Project Type:
Content Management System/Product Demo
Client:
Wachovia
Client Industry:
Financial
Project Background:
A web strategy team at Wachovia developed a content management system (“PRIMO”) to standardize development and presentation of role-specific procedural and reference information. The system was designed to be flexible enough to accommodate diverse information types and audiences, with a goal of enterprise-wide adoption.
My Role:
Visual Design, HTML/CSS
Process:
A fully functional beta version of the software with a UI built solely from default components provided in the development toolkit was already in limited production prior to my involvement in the project. Since a goal of the project was to encourage enterprise-wide adoption, management desired a more polished and professional looking visual design. I proposed a fairly monochromatic color scheme that would be unlikely to clash with the variety of content to be maintained in the system, yet still provide the desired polish. As it was likely that dense, technical content would frequently be housed within the CMS, generous use of white space and minimal graphical adornment was key. Once the design was approved, I then produced the HTML and CSS for the templates around the existing ASP.net code.
A second requirement of the project was to design an interactive demo to be used to sell the CMS to other departments within the organization. The HTML container I developed provided navigational controls for a Captivate demo that the team put together, while maintaining visual cohesiveness with the look of the CMS.
